Yoga Nidra with SC Nameth

Yoga Nidra is the state of being between sleep and wakefulness where the relaxation response and regeneration occur. This healing practice relieves stress patterns by retraining the nervous system to relax.

The practice of Yoga Nidra is deceptively simple. Because it is taught lying down it’s appealing to people who might feel intimidated by yoga postures or traditional seated meditation. We’ll begin with some yoga poses (asana) to warm up the body, some journaling and self-reflection, then 45 minutes of divine yogic sleep (Yoga Nidra).

Stacy-Colleen (SC) Nameth is a Los Angeles native who has lived on the East Coast and abroad, returning to LA to live, work, and play. After working in social services for 20 years, she began to study stress and trauma, and discovered through research and training how the body can heal itself.

SC has been trained by Richard Miller in Level 1 iRest Yoga Nidra for individuals and groups. iRest is a ten-step meditation-based program that utilizes deep relaxation techniques to enhance wellbeing and emotional and mental balance. SC utilizes this technique with students and clients who have chronic illness, emotional imbalances, sleepless nights, bouts of anger, depression and anxiety, and PTSD. She also works individually with clients in LA and Pasadena as a Licensed Psychotherapist working with trauma and substance abuse, integrating prescriptive yoga and meditation into the healing process.
